1 Kings 13

1.When you’re in obedience, God is your defender.

Jeremiah 17:9-10…”the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked…who can know it?”

Luke 16:10, ““If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.”

2. Doubting God’s Word, can be dangerous.

3.No room for the blame game

We don’t know the old man’s punishment...but it’s not about that.

Romans 10:17, “So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.”

He ALLOWED HIMSELF TO BE DECEIVED. He KNEW what God said…but he purposefully PLACED his trust in the wrong person.

There’s a defense for that…KNOW the Word of God. And TRUST it.

The overwhelming thread and theme of this series has been resisting selfishness.

We’re always asking the wrong question because we can’t see the selfishness within ourselves. We are always asking what we can get away with…how this benefits me…when is God going to start serving ME…

IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU.
