Some notes from:

I Am…redeemed from the hand of the enemy. Psalms 107:2

  • It’s about 4 types of people: wanderers, prisoners (addictions, toxic relationship, depression etc), sick (suffering because of the sin they are in), sailors (fighting different storms—jobless, financial hardship)

  • Highlighting humility and dependance on God. Each group calls out to Him, they went from pride and self-reliance…to “I can’t fix this anymore, I need you!”

  • v.2…”let the redeemed of the Lord, say so!” Testimonies are powerful!!

  • Humility…knowing you need help! Deliverance requires it.

I Am…forgiven. Colossians 1:13-14

  • vs. 5 - a confident hope!!

  • Forgiving our sins is like a last minute addition….so many other good things in this passage!

I Am…saved by grace through faith. Ephesians 2:8

  • Our salvation was a gift!! He earned it!

  • It’s reminder of who we were…but God raised us up!

  • He made us a masterpiece!! Not just a thing, but a masterpiece!!

  • Death is caused by separation from the Source!

  3. Then answer some questions and take some notes:

    • What benefits are ours as a result of being “justified through faith”?

  2. Then read it in context: 1 Corinthians 1:1-9

  3. Then answer some questions and take some notes:

    • What is significant about the way Paul addresses this church?

    • Why does Paul thank God for the very things that are now a source of problems (v.5-7)? Why is God’s faithfulness important to the Corinthians problem?

    • Who has been a “hero” of the faith for you? What from his or her life do you want to build in your own?

  1. First, say it out loud, and guess a little at what this statement should mean to you.

  2. Then read it in context: 2 Corinthians 5:11-21

  3. Then answer some questions and take some notes:

    • What does Paul mean by what he says about Christ and our response to Him? (see also Romans 6:5-13)

    • What does God do through Christ (v.18)? Through us (v.20)? For us (v.17-18)?

    • How can you grow in your awe of God and love for Christ this week?
