Luke 2:1-20
Jacob’s prophecy to his sons, in Genesis 49:10, “The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from his descendants, until the coming of the one to whom it belongs, the one whom all nations will honor.”
Daniel 2:44 says (in the 500’s BC), ““During the reigns of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed or conquered. It will crush all these kingdoms into nothingness, and it will stand forever.”
Romans 12:7-8 says, “If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously.”
Simple faith gets up and goes. No questioning: did that really happen?! Did we eat the wrong kind of herb out there in the wilderness today?!
Immediate acceptance. Immediate involvement.
They were available & receptive, responsive & involved.
FAITH AND FEAR are constantly at war. Worship is a discipline. Correcting your thoughts AND actions to line up with WHO HE IS. It takes discipline to keep faith simple. We want to over complicate it all the time. To understand WHY way too much...
The antidote to fear is worship. “God you are so good. You are so big. So much bigger than my situation. Just tell me what to do. I’m yours.”
When we understand that salvation has always been the plan...that’s when we can bring him our best worship.
The shepherds were:
