The Big Questions:
1. How did the wise men find Jesus?
They followed a star.
2. What did the wise men bring to Jesus?
They brought gifts to worship Him, gold, frankincense and myrrh.
3. How can we worship Jesus?
We don’t have any gold, frankincense or myrrh and we don’t need to bring expensive gifts to Jesus to be able to worship Him. We can come to Jesus just as we are, worshipping Him at any time and in any place. When we choose to follow Jesus, our worship isn’t only for Sunday mornings while we’re at church, we can worship Jesus anytime.
Parent at Home Activity:
Give your child a star shape to decorate. Children can use glue sticks and glitter to make sparkling stars or just markers and crayons to make it colorful. Use a hole punch and add a hole at the top of the star and thread through some ribbon so they can hang their star on their Christmas tree.
EXPLANATION: The wise men came in search of Jesus so they could worship Him. Matthew 2:2 (NIRV) “They asked, ‘Where is the child who has been born to be king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose. Now we have come to worship him.” They were seeking Jesus and the star was like a sign post in the sky.
Memory Verse:
“The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!” Luke 2:11
